Doki Doki

We started this school with one goal in mind: “To help students worldwide learn Japanese in an easy, quick, and fun way.”

We studied Japanese in Japan from 2017-2019 and had an AMAZING EXPERIENCE.

We had studied the language many years ago in our country, but the classes were boring and complicated. Even in Japan, the classes were sometimes dull and tough. That’s why we want to do things differently.

“Learning should be a wonderful experience, something you want to do and enjoy.”

Our biggest goal is to keep students motivated so they leave each class excited and enthusiastic for the next one!

The Journey

After meeting at the worst job imaginable, Sacha and Maxi quickly became best friends. After finishing their studies, Sacha wanted to travel, and Maxi convinced him that Japan was the ideal place. And so it all began.

The Tough Return

After a 3-month trip and having found Japanese girlfriends, Sacha and Maxi returned to Argentina desperate to return to Japan. But this time not for 3 months, but to STAY and LIVE there! At that time, the chances were almost 0, so they decided to take the first step: study Japanese until they saved enough to pay for a school in Japan.

The Dream

After working and saving for nearly 2 years, and as you can imagine, without Japanese girlfriends, Sacha and Maxi fulfilled the dream of living in Japan as students. Studying in Japan was one of the most rewarding yet challenging experiences.

After learning the language, they managed to get jobs and live in Japan for 2 years.

Without Health or Work

The arrival of COVID hit us all. Sacha and Maxi were no exception.

They had to return to Argentina without work and with Sacha diagnosed with Lupus, an incurable disease. After this, they decided to move forward and no longer be employed by anyone. They started over 10 projects, but all failed.

Founding Doki Doki Japan

One day, a friend of Sacha said, "Why don’t you use all your experience in Japan and offer online classes?" And that's how they started offering short 3-month courses.

By the second month, Doki Doki Japan was established as a company with the mission to help over 1 million students discover the language and the beautiful culture that Japan had shown them.

The Meaning of Doki Doki

The onomatopoeia “Doki Doki” in Japanese means “to feel passionate about something” or “to be nervous about something.”

In our case, we feel passionate about teaching, about the Japanese language, about anime, Japanese culture, and the Japanese people… We feel passionate about Japan! And we want to share this passion with everyone in the world who feels the same way we do.

So, having a name like “Doki Doki Japan” was a natural choice for us.

I founded Doki Doki Japan for those who can’t afford $20,000 to enter a school in Japan like I did in 2017, and to help more people have the best experience while studying Japanese. My personal goal is for Doki Doki Japan to have a physical school in Japan.

I have over 10 years of experience teaching Japanese in schools and universities. Sacha and Maxi contacted me to join their project of spreading the Japanese language with a different perspective, more focused on the student, and making sure every class is enjoyable. I am currently in charge of all the sensei at the school.
